cotton fabric, wool, nature dying, screen print, zinc plate, nylon

I wish to narrate my own life as an only daughter in a Chinese family from the 90s. The work represents a twisted, ambiguous, feminine but strong body, wrapped in layers of lovely romantic fantasy, printed by hand, layer by layer. Feeling restless, squirmingly alive but looks peaceful even. The character who appears to be always protected but embraces the knife known as love.  My work simply stands in my place as a quiet voice regarding the conundrum of self-awareness, and if you feel or experience anything similar, I gently pat you on the back.
